Huron County Court Docket Searches
Every Huron County court docket search starts with one question: which court holds the case? Circuit, district, probate, family, and federal court each keep their own records. For a statewide name or case-number lookup, Michigan offers MiCOURT Case Search. Meanwhile, Huron County's own court pages point visitors elsewhere. When the goal is a hearing date, they send you to a separate MiCOURT Court Display calendar. Behind any result sits the register of actions, also called the case history. That index tells you what was filed and when. It never promises that every paper is downloadable.
Start with the county's official court page before following any calendar link. The route matters here. The Court Display destination in Huron County is tied to a particular bench. A search can come up empty. Retype the exact case number and confirm the court family. Then ask the clerk who keeps that court's file. A court-date screen and a case-history screen answer different questions.
- Identify whether the Huron County matter belongs in district, circuit, probate, family, or federal court.
- Open the official Huron County court page and choose its docket or calendar link.
- Use MiCOURT Case Search by public party name or the exact case number shown on a notice.
- Use MiCOURT Court Display when the goal is a Huron County hearing date, time, room, or daily setting.
- Ask the correct Huron County clerk for an ordinary or certified copy when the public case history is not enough.
Note: A Huron County public result helps locate a case. It does not replace the court's current notice or a certified record.
Start With the Right Huron Court
Which Huron County court holds your case? That decides where the docket lives. The 73B District Court takes misdemeanors, felony arraignments and preliminary examinations, traffic and civil infractions, small claims, and general civil claims inside its local limits. Felonies move to the 52nd Judicial Circuit Court after bindover, along with larger civil cases, family matters, and authorized appeals. Estates, wills, trusts, guardianships, conservatorships, and treatment cases sit in a separate Huron County Probate Court register.
Start your Huron County docket search with the Huron County government home, which links straight to circuit, district, and probate or juvenile docket destinations. One mistake trips people up here. A city office, a sheriff office, or a generic search result is not the keeper of every court record. The court hearing the case controls the file.

Treat the county navigation as a starting map. The selected court and its clerk set the actual Huron County record route.
Court Dockets: What They Show
A register of actions is the permanent, chronological history of a Huron County case: filings, hearings, orders, judgments, and other activity. A public MiCOURT record can display key events. Still, a document title does not mean the motion, exhibit, or order image is public online. Read a Huron County court docket top to bottom. First identify the court and the case number, then check the case type and filing date. Follow the event sequence in order. Finally, compare the newest setting with any disposition or judgment shown.
| Court and case number | Identifies the Huron County court that maintains the case history. Copy an exact number rather than guessing a local format. |
|---|---|
| Case type and filing date | Shows the matter's category and when it entered the Huron County court system. |
| Party labels | Help distinguish results, but a name match alone does not prove identity or a current case status. |
| Register entries | List filings, hearings, orders, and other chronological case events. |
| Next setting | May show a hearing date, time, room, or event type; confirm important Huron County settings with the court. |
| Disposition or judgment | Records an outcome when displayed; it is not necessarily the same as a sentence, payment balance, or document image. |
Note: A Huron County case history is a navigation record. The full court file may require inspection or a clerk copy request.
Huron MiCOURT Case Search Fields
MiCOURT Case Search is the statewide public layer. It covers Huron County records available for web display. A name search starts with a last name, and a first name is optional. When the result list gets crowded, a case-number search works better. The county publishes no separate local number pattern. Copy the number exactly from a court notice or clerk communication. Before trusting a hit, check it against court location, case type, filing date, and the number itself.
| Field or control | Use in a Huron County search | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Name Search | Finds public results by party or participant name. | Try a spelling variant, then compare court and case type. |
| Case Number Search | Locates a known Huron County record. | Enter the number exactly; do not invent punctuation or prefixes. |
| Court or case filter | May narrow public results where the interface exposes filters. | Use the correct Huron court family before drawing conclusions. |
| Court Display date | Moves from case history to a daily hearing view. | Select the Huron court and the date, then read the public columns. |
The statewide public portal uses consent and CAPTCHA controls, and its public display can exclude protected cases or limit older conviction displays. A secured or permissioned view is not a public entitlement. The 73B District Court page lists the county's public docket route along with the court-specific services.
The district page helps a Huron County searcher tell the district clerk's docket route apart from circuit and probate. That separation saves a wasted lookup in the wrong register.
Huron County Courts and Their Dockets
The Huron County court docket is not one file cabinet or one search box. Each court keeps records within its jurisdiction. The trial-court offices do share the county building. Start with the case type, then use the court's linked MiCOURT option or its clerk. Probate and Family Division matters deserve extra care. Public web display there can be narrower than ordinary circuit or district case history.
| Huron County court | Docket generally covers | Public route |
|---|---|---|
| 73B District Court | Misdemeanors, preliminary felony stages, traffic, civil infractions, small claims, and local civil cases. | MiCOURT Case Search, 73B Court Display, or the district clerk. |
| 52nd Judicial Circuit Court | Felonies after bindover, larger civil matters, family cases, and authorized appeals. | Circuit Court Display, public research terminal, or Huron County Clerk. |
| Huron County Probate Court | Estates, wills, trusts, guardianships, conservatorships, and treatment proceedings. | Probate Court Display or the probate register. |
| Family Division | Juvenile, custody, support, paternity, adoption, PPO, and related matters. | Ask Family Division about lawful access because many records are restricted. |
The Huron County Probate Court page shows that probate keeps its own office, register, and docket route, separate from the other benches.
That separate probate route is the reason a Huron County estate or guardianship record should not be assumed to appear in a district search. Check the probate register first.
Huron County Courtroom Routes
Huron County court offices gather in Bad Axe, at 250 E. Huron Avenue. The room number matters as much as the street. The 73B District Court sits in Room 105. Probate is in Room 206, and Circuit in Room 207, with Family Division and Friend of the Court offices in Room 211. A Huron County case stays public even when a different counter handles it. The court, not the building, controls the file.
Room-by-room routing and telephone contacts come from the county's departments directory, which also reflects current office channels. Read the court's own access notice before you go. Bags may be inspected at the district court, weapons are prohibited, and phones should stay out of use in court areas.
For exact rooms and phone lines, the Huron County departments directory is the official listing.
An in-person Huron County search works best when it starts at the right counter. The directory steers a visitor toward the correct clerk rather than some unrelated county office.
Court Dates and Settings in Huron County
Need a Huron County court date? Go to MiCOURT Court Display instead of relying only on a case-history search. Pick a date and the public calendar can show Party Name, Time, Room, and Case Number. Circuit, 73B District, and Probate each have their own Huron County display destination. A blank calendar just means no event is listed. It does not erase the case history.
Settings change. A continuance, adjournment, reset, room change, or remote-appearance instruction can supersede an earlier entry. The county's Huron County Court Schedule covers these calendar routes in more depth. Confirm a same-day setting with the listing court.
Huron MiCOURT Court Display
MiCOURT Court Display is the Huron County calendar layer. It is not the full register of actions. Open the official Huron court link. Pick a date. Write down the party label, time, room, and case number before contacting the clerk. A date helps most when a Huron County notice lists a hearing date but gives too little case detail for a name search.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, such as an arraignment, pretrial, hearing, or review.
- Continuance or adjournment
- A Huron County setting moved to another date or time.
- Register of actions
- The chronological case history of filings and court events.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a case or charge, which can differ from a sentence or balance.
Sometimes Court Display will not load in a browser. Return to the court's Huron County page and try the official link again. If it still does not open, call the office that handles the case. The county's own links remain the routing authority.
Docket Access Under Michigan Law
Michigan Court Rule 8.119 treats court records as public unless a statute, court rule, or court order says otherwise. In Huron County, that opens several doors. A public case history can be inspected through an approved online route, a public terminal, or a clerk process. Document images and protected fields may stay unavailable. Courts may charge actual reproduction costs. Inspection is one thing; taking an original file from the clerk's custody is another.
Michigan court-record rules.
MCR 8.119 makes court records public unless access is restricted and sets inspection, copying, and electronic-access rules.
MCR 1.109(D)(9) protects identifying information such as Social Security, driver-license, financial-account, and birth-date data.
MCL 15.232 excludes the judiciary from Michigan FOIA's public-body definition, so a Huron County court file follows court rules and clerk procedures.
Do not assume that "public," "suppressed," "sealed," and "excluded" mean the same thing in Huron County. Each label carries different access rules. Juvenile, adoption, child-protective, PPO, and other protected matters can be limited. A clerk can explain the request route. The clerk cannot give legal advice. Nor can the clerk disclose a nonpublic record without lawful authority. Note that a public Huron County docket entry is not an official certification. It does not certify the case history. Nor is it an entitlement to protected personal information.
Huron Felony Docket Transfer
A Huron County felony can seem to vanish from a 73B District Court search after the preliminary stage. The local path starts with district arraignment and preliminary-examination work. A bindover can then move the matter to the 52nd Judicial Circuit Court. For cases bound over on or after July 2, 2024, MCR 8.119 makes the district or municipal record nonpublic immediately after bindover. The circuit record stays accessible. If the case is remanded, the access treatment reverses.
That rule sets a practical Huron County search sequence. Keep the original number and court information. Then check the circuit route or ask the appropriate clerk about the circuit case number. A missing district result does not end the case. It does not prove the public circuit record is missing either.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
Different clerks hold different Huron County court files. The Huron County Clerk in Room 201 keeps physical custody of circuit files and processes circuit filings. The 73B District Court runs its own clerk counter in Room 105. Probate has its own register. A request works best when it names the Huron County court, the case number, the document or register requested, a date range or hearing date, and a safe contact method. Mention whether an ordinary or certified copy is needed.

Source context from the Huron County Clerk's Office describes the clerk's circuit-file custody role.
The clerk office holds the key distinction here. Circuit files sit in one custody, while the district clerk runs a separate docket counter for its own Huron County court records.
Huron Circuit Docket Research Terminal
When a Huron County web search comes up short, the 52nd Judicial Circuit Court offers a public online research terminal. It sits on the second floor. Look across from Room 207. It is a strong fallback for a circuit docket. Try it when a browser display fails or an online case history lacks document detail. The terminal does not erase access restrictions. It still gives a Huron County researcher a court-provided inspection route.
The 52nd Judicial Circuit Court page lays out the circuit docket, research terminal, transcript, and jury information routes.
Huron County's circuit court offers an in-person docket alternative.
Huron County 73B Docket Workload
The official 2023 Huron 73B District Court report counts workload. It does not count unique people. It is not a ranking of cases either. The total row spans criminal, traffic, civil-infraction, civil, small-claims, parking, and summary categories. Those figures help explain why a Huron County docket can contain many types of settings and dispositions. A useful search still needs court and case-type filters.
For those countywide totals, turn to the official 2023 Huron 73B caseload report. Court administration is all they measure. They say nothing about a particular person's record. Nor do they show a city's share of cases.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Huron County
Huron County counts three incorporated cities: Bad Axe, Harbor Beach, and Caseville. None of them runs its own municipal court docket portal. That matters for a docket search. City boundaries do not create separate court records here. A traffic ticket or ordinance case tied to any of these cities generally goes to one court. That court is 73B District Court. Circuit, probate, and family matters each follow their own Huron County channels instead. Treat a City Hall page as a contact point. Do not treat it as a substitute for the actual court docket.
Bad Axe Court Records
2020 population 3,021. County-seat citations and city matters route to Huron County 73B unless a clerk confirms an exception.
Harbor Beach Court Records
2020 population 1,604. Harbor Beach administrative pages are not the county court docket; 73B is the court route.
Caseville Court Records
2020 population 652. The city archive gives local context, while court events route to the Huron County register.
The Huron County departments page lays out the county's three-city count alongside its court offices. Those city listings help with routing a Huron County case lookup. They simply do not stand in for a court register, since no city office keeps its own docket.
Map and Directions to the Huron County Building
The 52nd Circuit Court, which handles felonies, larger civil suits, and family matters, sits in Room 207 of the Huron County Building, with the County Clerk's circuit-file custody in Room 201. The same building holds the 73B District Court in Room 105 and Probate Court in Room 206. The building is at 250 E. Huron Ave. in Bad Axe.
